Verified fee waiver routes for Indian applicants — save ₹30K–₹50K on application fees
A note from the founder on what actually gets you into top business schools
I've helped hundreds of applicants get into top MBA and MiM programs. The single biggest misconception I see?
"If I just get a 750 GMAT, I'll get in."
This belief costs talented people their dream admits every year. Let me explain why.
Your GMAT score gets your application read. Your profile gets you admitted.
I've spoken with adcom members from LBS, INSEAD, HEC, and ISB. Here's what they consistently tell me they're evaluating:
Not titles — actual examples of you leading people, projects, or change. They want to see you've influenced outcomes beyond your job description.
Did you wait for assignments, or did you create opportunities? Competitions, side projects, and entrepreneurial ventures signal drive.
Cross-cultural exposure, diverse teams, volunteering, global perspectives. They're building cohorts, not just admitting individuals.
Your activities should connect to your goals. Random certifications don't help. Strategic choices that build toward your target role do.
We've distilled years of admissions patterns into four dimensions. Strong applicants show depth in at least two:
Team management, multi-stakeholder leadership, club/org leadership roles, mentoring others
Competitions, entrepreneurship, social impact work, creative problem-solving
Certifications, industry credentials, technical skills that align with your target career
Cross-cultural experiences, volunteering, global exposure, community involvement
Reality: By then, you have 3-6 months before applications. Meaningful activities take 6-12 months to show impact. You've already lost.
Reality: Everyone has work experience. AdComs ask: "What did you do BEYOND your job?" Passive career progression isn't leadership.
Reality: Depth matters, but so does showing you can manage multiple commitments. 2-3 meaningful activities across dimensions beats one big thing.
Reality: Certifications show learning ability, not leadership. They complement strong profiles, but they can't replace genuine leadership experiences.
Reality: AdComs spot last-minute volunteering immediately. Sustained commitment over 6-12+ months is what counts. Weekend volunteering two months before applying looks desperate.
Most applicants targeting Round 1 have about 9 months from "I'm applying" to deadline. Here's why that matters:
Round 1 deadlines (September-October) are 9 months away if you start in January. If you're reading this in June, you have 3-4 months — focus on 1-2 high-impact activities rather than spreading thin.
Every application, every interview, every essay — it all comes down to one question:
"Why should we pick you over the hundreds of other qualified applicants?"
Your GMAT doesn't answer that. Your GPA doesn't answer that. Your company name doesn't answer that.
What answers it is evidence. Evidence that you lead. Evidence that you create impact. Evidence that you go beyond what's asked of you. Evidence that you'll contribute to the classroom, the campus, and the alumni network.
That's what profile building creates: evidence.
I've seen 720s get rejected and 680s get admitted. The difference was never the score. It was what they did with their time before applying.
Profile building isn't about gaming the system. It's about becoming the kind of person top programs want to admit — someone who leads, creates impact, and brings unique perspectives to every room they enter.
